4e. அரங்கேற்றம்

அமராவதி ஆனது தில்லை, சித்திரை திருவாதிரையன்று;
அலங்கரித்த தோரணங்கள், கோலங்கள், விளக்குகளால்!

வைத்தனர் திருத் தொண்டர் புராணத்தை – அங்கேயே
வைத்திருந்த அறுகால் அழகிய பொற்பீடத்தின் மேலே.

விரித்து இருந்தனர் பசும் பொற்பட்டும், வெண் துகிலும்;
பரப்பி இருந்தனர் வண்ண, வண்ண மலர்களைத் தூவி!

தொடங்கியது அரங்கேற்றம் சித்திரைத் திருவாதிரை;
தொடர்ந்தது அடுத்த சித்திரைத் திருவாதிரை வரை!

கொண்டாடினர் அனைவரும் பெரிய புராணத்தை!
கொண்டாடினர் ‘இதுவே ஐந்தாவது வேதம்!’ என்று

வைத்தனர் திருமுறையைப் பொற் தட்டில் – அதைப்
போர்த்தினர் அதை உயரிய பசும் பட்டுத் துகிலினால்.

ஏற்றினான் மன்னன் யானை மீது திருமுறையை;
ஏற்றினான் மன்னன் யானை மீது சேக்கிழாரையும்;

தானே கைப்பட வீசினான் சேக்கிழாருக்குக் கவரி;
“நானே அடைந்தேன் என் பிறவிப் பயனை!” என்று.

வலம் வைத்தனர் ஊர்வலமாகத் தில்லை நகரை,
வலம்புரி முதலிய மங்கல வாத்தியங்கள் முழங்கிட.

கரை ஏறிவிடலாம் கருங்கடலைக் கரங்களால் நீந்தி!
கடற்கரையில் மணல் துகளை எண்ணி அளவிடலாம்!

கணக்கிடலாம் கண் சிமிட்டும் விண்மீன்களையும்!
கணக்கிட இயலுமோ புராணத்தின் பெருமையை?

‘தொண்டர் சீர் பரவுவார்’ ஆனார் சேக்கிழார் பெருமான்;
‘தொண்டர் புராணம்’ ஆனது ‘பன்னிரெண்டாம் திருமுறை’!

அமைச்சராக ஆகிவிட்டார் பாலறாவாயர் – இவர்
அமைச்சர் சேக்கிழாருடைய மூத்த சகோதரர்.

‘தொண்டைமான்’ எனப் பட்டம் பெற்றார் பாலறாவாயர்;
தொண்டுகளில் ஈடு பட்டார் சேக்கிழார் பெருமானார்.

அடைந்தனர் சிவன் திருவடிகளை அனைவரும்!
அடைந்தனர் பிறவி ஒழிந்த பேரின்ப வாழ்வினை!

வாழ்க வளமுடன், விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி

#4e. The year long expatiation (arangEtram)

Thillai Chidhambaram was decorated like the celestial city of Devas AmarAvathy with colorful ThoraNs, rows of shining golden lamps, fragrant flowers and large colorful designs drawn on the ground etc.

A six legged gold peetam was covered with fresh flowers, a silk cloth and a white cloth. The purAnam was placed on this peetam. The expatiation started on the ThiruvAdhirai day in the month of Chiththirai and went on for on full year.

The purAnam was praised by one and all as The Fifth Vedam. The purAnam was placed on a gold plate covered by green silk. King AnabhAyan took SEkkizhAr and the purANam on his royal elephant through the streets of the city in a procession.

He himself fanned to SEkkizhAr considering it as his good fortune. The procession was lead by the orchestra of all the auspicious musical instruments.

One may be able to swim across a sea and still survive. One may be able to count the number of sand particles in a beach. One may be able to count the winking stars at a night sky. But one can never fathom the true greatness of this purANam.

SEkkizhAr was now known as “ThoNdar seer paravuvAr” meaning ‘one who sings the glories of the devotees’.The Periya PurANam became the Twelfth Thirumurai SEkkizhAr’s elder brother PAlaRAvAyar became the new chief minister to the King and won the title “ThoNdaimAN”

SEkkizhAr spent his life in doing many welfare activities and reached the lotus feet of Lord Siva when his life on earth came to an end.
