சந்தித்தனர் திருநாவுக்கரசரும், ஞானசம்பந்தரும்;
சந்தித்தனர் இன்பம் பெருக இன்மொழிகள் பேசி.

அடைந்தார் தந்தையுடன் திருப்பாச்சிலாச்சிரமத்தை.
கிடந்தான் அங்கே கொல்லிமலை மழவனின் மகன்

விட்டுச் சென்றிருந்தான் துன்புறும் மகனை ஆலயத்தில்,
விட்டுச் சென்றுவிடும் வலிப்புநோய் இறையருளால் என்று.

பாடினார் சம்பந்தர் “துணி வளர் திங்கள்” என்ற பாசுரத்தை;
வேண்டினார் ஈசனிடம் மழவன் மகன் வலிப்பு நோய் நீங்கிட.

எழுந்து நின்றான் மழவன் மகன்; நீங்கிவிட்டது வலிப்பு நோய்;
தொழுதனர் சம்பந்தரைக் கொல்லிமலை மழவனும, மகனும்.

கொடும் பனி வாட்டியது கொங்கு நாடு மக்களை- பாடினார்
கொடும் பனி சேரா வண்ணம் “அவ்வினைக்கு இவ்வினை”

சென்றார் சம்பந்தர் பட்டீச்சுரத்தில் பெருமானை தரிசிக்க;
தந்தன பூதங்கள் முத்துப் பந்தலை வெய்யிலைத் தணிக்க;

வேண்டினார் தந்தையார் வேள்வி நடத்திடப் பொன், பொருளை,
ஆண்டவன் அருளினான் அள்ளக் குறையாத பொற்கிழி ஒன்றை.

பாடினார் திருவாடுதுறையில் பாணரின் யாழ் இசையுடன் கலந்து.
“பதிகங்கள் சிறப்பது பாணரின் யாழிசையால்” என்றனர் உறவினர்

“மாதர் மடப்பிடி” பதிகத்தை பாணரால் யாழில் மீட்ட முடியவில்லை;
மனம் வருந்தினார் பாணர்; தம் யாழை உடைக்கவும் முற்பட்டார்.

விட்டுவிடவில்லை சம்பந்தர் பாணர் யாழை உடைக்க -“யாழில்
எட்டும் வரையில் இசைப்பீர் முன்போலவே நீங்கள்!” என்றார்.

வழிபட்டார் திருமருகல் ஆலயத்தில் தங்கி இருந்த சம்பந்தர்;
வழக்கம் மாறியது அங்கு நிகழ்ந்த ஒரு சோகமான நிகழ்வால்.

தீண்டி விட்டது விஷநாகம் ஒரு வணிகனின் மகனை – அவனைத்
தீண்ட முடியாமல் தத்தளித்தாள் அவனை மணக்க இருந்த பெண்.

செவி மடுத்தார் அழுகுரலையும் புலம்பல்களையும் சம்பந்தர்
சிவபெருமான் அருளை விழைந்து பதிகம் பாடினார் உடனே.

7#28d. Thiru JnAna Sambandhar (4)

Thiru NAvukkarasar and JnAna Sambandhar met in SeerkhAzi and spoke with great respect and love for each other. Later Sambandhar reached Thiru pAchchi lAchchiramam. He saw that the son of the Mazhavan of the Kolli mzha nAdu had been left lying in the temple.

His father believed that God would free him from the attacks of epilepsy and left him there in the temple. Sambandhar took pity on him and sang the pAsuram “ThuNi vaLar ThingaL”. He prayed to Siva that the boy must be freed from epilepsy.

The son of the Kolli Mazhavan got cured and he stood up. His father was overwhelmed to see this and both the father and the son fell at the feet of Sambandhar.

The people of KOngu NAdu were suffering from severe winter. Sambandhar sang a padhigam “Avvinaikku ivvinai” and reduced the severity of the winter.

When he went to Patteeswaram for a dharshan of the lord, the boothams (Siva GaNas) gave him a canopy made of pearls to beat the heat of the Sun.

SivapAdha Hrudhayar wished to perform a yAga. To meet the expenses involved he wished for some gold and money. Sambandhar sang a padhigam and Lord Siva gave him a purse of 1000 gold coins which would never exhausted.

In ThiruvAduthurai, Sambandhar sang his padhigams accompanied by the PANar on his YAzh. PANar’s relatives claimed that the padhigams of Sambandhar became beautiful and sweet only because PANar played his YAzh.

Sambandhar sang the padhigam “MAdhar madappidi…” PANar was unable to play it on his YAzh. He got humiliated and wanted to smash his yAzh but Sambandhar would not let it happen. He told PANar, “Play on your yAzh whatever you can play as you used to do.”

Sambandahr went to the temple at Thiru Marugal. He heard sound of a woman crying, sobbing an lamenting. A merchant’s son and the girl who wanted to marry him were staying in the temple.

A venomous snake bit the man and he died. The bride to be was shedding copious tears and crying most pathetically. Sambandhar took pity on the woman and sang a padhigam seeking the grace of Lord Siva.
